About My Trip
I'm super excited to be given the opportunity to go to Uganda with the mission team at my church! I've always wanted to go on a mission trip since God turned my life around in 1999 after becoming a Christian. About a year ago I really felt God nudging me to go, so I started praying about it, and now here we are!
In June 2017, we will be traveling to Uganda in East Africa. We will be working alongside God Cares Schools and Orphanage. The orphanage was started as an outreach to children who are victims of Africa's AIDS pandemic, who are alone and poverty stricken. Their mission is to love and care for these little ones and help them get an education so they can rise above their current circumstances. While there, we will be assisting in the schools, hosting conferences, helping with agricultural efforts, and beginning construction on a Mom Village for mothers with no way to provide for themselves and their children. I have a soft spot in my heart for the children in the orphanage. My mom spent much of her childhood in an orphanage before being adopted. And, having lost my parents recently has left me feeling a bit like an orphan myself. I can't wait to love on these children and show them the love that God has shown me as my heavenly Father who will never leave me nor forsake me. It gives me so much joy to have this opportunity to be able to give back and make a difference in eternity not only here, but around the world!
My goal is to raise $3200, which will fund mission projects at the schools and orphanage, to purchase items we will be taking to the children (medical supplies, clothes, shoes, books, and other essential items), and for my personal expenses for the trip. I would like to ask for your prayers and financial support as I prepare for this amazing journey that God has blessed me with!
James 1:27 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
Psalm 82:3 "Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed."
Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
